On Friday, February 26, 2021, Zelma Potts, loving wife and mother of 6 children, passed away at the age of 88.
She was born May 2, 1932 in Hodgenville, Kentucky. She married her husband, Davis, on July 4, 1952 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They raised 4 sons, Steve, Danny, Clark, and J.P., and 1 daughter, Melinda, along with fostering over 100 kids in the community over the years.
She was a kind, loving, and generous woman who loved the Lord. Her servants heart extended a helping hand and grace more than one could count. She never met a stranger and before you knew it you were family. Zelma was a well-known beautician by trade and a beloved member of the church family at The Community Church.
Survivors include her loving husband, Davis Potts; children, Rev. Danny R. Potts (Jo Ellen), Davis Clark Potts, J.P. Potts (Alandra), and Melinda Ross (Larry); siblings, Geneva Viers, Doris Jones, Betty Allen, and Leroy Clark. She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Zelma was preceded in death by her children, Steve Potts and Phillip Wayne Potts; adopted son, Joshua Potts; and grandson, John Ross.
Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at Community Church.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2021 at The Community Church with the Revs. Sam Hill, Danny R. Potts, Jerry Shelton, and Larry Ross officiating. She will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Zelma’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
