William Erwin `Wild Bill` Williams, 65, Clarksville, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Tom Wilkins and Chaplain Billy T. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Onton Cemetery, Onton, KY, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and from 12 noon until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by a Purple Heart Service. He was born August 31, 1943 in Chattanooga, TN and was preceded in death by his parents, William Steven and Eva Kelly Williams; and his sister, Wanda McNish. Mr. Williams was retired from the U.S. Army where he served three tours in Vietnam 1968-1969. He was the medic known as "Doc" to the 173 Assault Helicopter Company "The Robin Hoods" Sherwood Forrest, Lai Khe Vietnam 1970-1971 and was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (W60)Vietnam Cross of Galintry (w/Palm)(2 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star/Overseas Bars, Purple Heart 2, Distinguished Flying Cross, Combat Medical Badge, Aircraft Crewman Badge and Good Conduct Medal. He later receiveced his Bachelor of Science-Microbiology Degree from A.P.S.U. and was a member of Queen City Masonic Lodge 761, Military Order Purple Heart Cpt. amd 457 Screaming Eagles. Wild Bill also enjoyed fishing and reading. Survivors include his wife, Linda L. Wright Williams, Clarksville; sons William Dwayne Williams, Macon, GA; daughters, Jackie Kay Holmes, Louisville, KY, Sabrina L. Davis, Glendale, AZ, Eva Virginia Williams, Sentabonia, Miss; brother, Jim Thorn, California; sisters, Geneva Weighoff, Jacksonville, FL, Pat Peach, Waynesboro, TN, Jan Phelps, Nashville. 3 Grandhildren, Chris Holmes, Jonathan Holmes and Kasey Williams. One Great grandchild, C. J. Williams.
