William T. (Red) Chapman Jr., 92, Palmyra, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at Gateway Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens, Nashville, with the Rev. Charles Borens officiating. Military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.
He was born July 7, 1919 in Palmyra, TN, son of William T. Chapman, Sr. and Florence Rye Chapman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary Frances Stark Chapman. He was an automobile dealer in middle Tennessee for many years and served as Asst. Adjutant General for Army in Gov. Frank Clement's Administration. He was a 32nd degree Mason. During his lifetime he held memberships with many civic organizations as well as Richland Country Club.
Survivors include his children Ted Chapman (Pat), Joel Chapman, Susan Freeman (Harold), Ellen Herrington (Lynwood), Melissa Abington, grandchildren Will Chapman (Donna), Myles Freeman (Amy), Russell Freeman, Mary Frances Kerr (Kelly), Betsy Malkin (David), Catherine Morton (John), John Herrington, Susan Michael (Adam), Taylor Abington (Jenna), and seven great grandchildren.
