William Clarence `Buddy` Parker, 87, Cumberland Furnace, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. He was born January 2, 1922 and was preceded in death by his parents, James Ellis and Mamie Alice Hall Parker; his wife of sixty six years, Mattie Nelle Burney Parker; brother Ellis Herbert Parker, sisters, Mildred Parker Shelby and Bessie Parker Hodges. Mr. Parker was a retired Union Carpenter, a farmer, amd a U.S. Army WWII Veteran where he served as a Combat Medic, and the recipient of two bronze stars. He was a member of Cumberland Furnace Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (Dan) Walker, Clarksville; sons, Bob (Polly) Parker, Dotsonville, David (Lisa) Parker, Cumberland Furnace; grandchildren, Michael Parker, Cumberland Furnace, Dee Walker (Bruce Pranger), Clarksville, Danny Walker, California, Kevin (Misti) Walker, Clarksville, Kathey (Tim) Dines, Clarksville, Ashleigh (Lance) Fuhrman, Clarksville, Blake E. Parker (Tera Morrison), Dotsonville; great-grandson, Ryan Dines and great-granddaughter, Makayla Eller; Loving caregivers, Dee and Mark, and many loving nieces and nephews. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
