William McElroy

William Douglas "Bill" McElroy, 74, Clarksville, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasantview Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home. Additionally, a masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
William was born January 6, 1938 in Montgomery County, son of Jesse R. and Effie Smith McElroy. William was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea. Following his service to country, William worked and retired from a career with Trane Company. He was a member of the Palmyra Masonic Lodge and a Baptist.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ruth. He is survived by two loving daughters, Karen Elizabeth McElroy Black and her husband Joe and Debra Jean McElroy Lynch and her husband Eddie; and brother Doris McElroy of Clarksville. He was the proud grandfather of Jeremey Slayton, Justin McElroy, Jacob Lynch, and Emmie J. Black, three grandchildren by marriage, Timmy, Chris and Jennifer Lynch, and great granddaughter Renetta Grace McElroy.
Pallbearers will be Jeremey Slayton, Justin McElroy, Jacob Lynch, Eddie Lynch, Joe Black, and Chris Lynch.
