William Mathis

William “Alfred” Mathis, age 77 of Cumberland City, TN, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Houston County Community Hospital.
A celebration of his life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Steven Cathey officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The Mathis family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday afternoon.
Alfred entered this life on August 17, 1940 in Stewart County, TN, son to the late Sam and Clatie Mathis. Alfred worked for the Montgomery County School System and was faithful member of Elk Creek Baptist Church. Alfred had a passion for hunting, performing gospel bluegrass music, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Mathis, children, Jeff Mathis (Krystal) Shaunna Singer (Joe), and sister, Laverne Tinker (Don). Alfred also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Sable Gudino, Carson Gudino, Callie Gudino, Lexie Mathis, Addison Mathis, and Riley Mathis.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Mathis, Chris Mathis, Gary Mathis, Mike Stanfill, Joey Brake,Carson Gudino and Al Gudino.
