William Michael Dawson, age 78, of Woodlawn, TN passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

 

He will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.

 

Mike entered this life on October 22, 1945. He was a graduate of Austin Peay State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. His professional journey was nothing short of remarkable. He began his career by serving 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he showed courage and commitment to his duty. Following this, he dedicated 20 years of his life to the United States Army, showcasing his unwavering loyalty and patriotism. Later on, Mike spent another two decades contributing to his community through Civil Service, demonstrating his selflessness and desire to make a difference in the world. Described as adventurous, Mike's spirit thrived on exploring new experiences, with one of his recent endeavors being parasailing. Despite his thirst for thrill, he always held his family and friends close to his heart, cherishing moments spent with loved ones above all else. His involvement with organizations such as the VFW Post 11160 and his membership in the Masons reflected his sense of camaraderie and community spirit. In his spare time, Mike found joy in camping, fishing, and spending quality time with his pets.

 

He is preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Florence and Jack McElroy.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara Jean Dawson; children, Timothy Dawson, Judd (Luann) Dawson, Julie Dawson, and Kimberly (Chris) Espinoza; sister, Jacqueline Davis; grandchildren, Russell (Keri) Johnson, and Zachary (Tess) Burr; great-grandchild, Asher Burr.
