William Randolph Carter, 81, Clarksville, died Friday, September 19, 2008, at Grace Health Care. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 20, 1926 in Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hosie and Birdie Love Tucker Carter, son, Ronald T. Carter, brothers, Hosie Carter Jr. and Joe Carter. Mr. Carter was a Baptist, retired from Civil Service after 25 years, a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII, a member of the Conservation Club. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Marie Davidson Carter, Clarksville; sons, Robert Darrell Carter, Clarksville, William C. Carter, Mt. Juliet, Kelly R. Carter, Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Kelly Carter, Stepehn William Carter, Jeremy Carter, Mitchell Carter; great-granddaughter, Timiney Carter. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
