William Dillard Carpenter, 69, of Woodlawn, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Sugar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Fain officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 7 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, and from 12 noon until the hour of service Saturday, October 8 at Sugar Creek Baptist Church.
William was born July 15, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, son of Harvey and Etha Ladd Carpenter. He was an electrician, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and a founding member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carpenter, brother, Howard Carpenter, and sister, Sherone Carpenter.
Survivors include his son, Mike Carpenter (Cynthia) of Woodlawn, daughter, Lori Wynn (Donny) of Woodlawn, mother, Etha Ladd Carpenter of Clarksville, brother, Tim Carpenter of Whiteland, IN, sisters, Wanda McGovern of Woodlawn and Lourine Kukral of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren, Kyle, Keith, Caleb, Sierra, and Trent Wynn, Levi, Sandra, Stewart, and Lacie St. Pierre, Lacey Carpenter, and great-grandson, Damien St. Pierre.
Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.
