William T. Black, age 80, of Southside, TN passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025. He was lovingly known as “Bill”.
Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Miller’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Bill entered this life on June 8, 1944, in Montgomery County, TN to the late Ray and Lucille Matthews Black. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. Bill also had a green thumb like no other. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his tomatoes. In his later years, he could be found in his favorite chair, watching westerns. His greatest joy of all, was his grandchildren. He was lovingly known as “PaPaw”.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Donna Black, and Darlene Johnson; brother, Robert Black; brothers-in-law, Frog Newsom, and Royce Newell; sister-in-law, Wanda Black, and great-nephew, Russell “David” McIntosh.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Mary C. Black; children, Cindy (Don) Black, Billy Black, Bobby (Barbara) Black, and Jennifer Hampton; siblings, Rev. James Black, Ann Newsom, and Nell Newell. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cindy Black, Billy Black, Bobby Black, Ray Black, Russell Black, and Teddy Manning.
