William Davenport "Port" Beasley, 91, went to be with Jesus peacefully at his home on April 26th. Funeral Service will be 10am Saturday at Erin United Methodist Church.Visitation will be from 4pm untill 8pm Friday at Nave Funeral Home Erin,Tn. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Winnie Elizabeth Vinson Beasley. Also his brothers Caleb, Shorty, Adron, and Harlan. He is survived by one sister, Lorene Barnes, daughter Sidna Gee, son-in-law Kevin Gee, and grandsons Chad, Clint, and Collin. Port was born in Stewart County Tennessee on May 29th, 1919. He served four years, four months, four days and one hour in the United States Army and married his wife while in the service. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and earned the rank of Master Sergeant prior to his honorable discharge at the end of World War II. After receiving a Masters degree in Education, he began his career in Tennessee. He soon moved to Clovis, New Mexico where he served as a school administrator for nearly 32 years. He retired in December of 1980. After retirement, they returned to Erin, Tennessee to be near family and friends. He remained in Erin for several years following the death of his wife. Then in 2003, he moved to Texas to be with his daughter's family. There he spent his remaining years being a wonderful Christian example to his grandsons and those around him.
