Walter Howell Shaw, Jr., of Richland, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in Clarksville, Tennessee following an extended illness.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 9 a.m. with the funeral service at 10 a.m. at McReynolds Nave and Larson Funeral Home with Brother Steve Kirby and Brother Tay Joslin officiating. Burial will follow with a graveside service held at 2pm at Midway Cemetery in Indiana. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Walter Howell was a native of Springfield, TN, graduated from Austin Peay State University, and served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was the owner of Misty Morn Safe Company in Richland, IN. He was retired from ALCOA in Newburgh IN, past president of the Rockport (IN) Chamber of Commerce and belonged to numerous groups and associations.
Walter Howell enjoyed people and was a constant learner throughout his life having many hobbies. He loved waterfowl, gardening, animals, hunting, and the great outdoors. While still employed with ALCOA, he started Misty Morn Mallard Farm raising ducks and geese. This later transitioned into Misty Morn Safe Company for over thirty years. Upon his travels to many trade shows and exhibitions with the safe company, his personality and wit endeared him to customers and new friends.
Throughout his life he was known for his positive attitude, work ethic, drive, and determination. His encouraging manner was an inspiration to others around him. He was a very loving father, with a kind heart, and loved God. His relationship with the Lord guided him throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Larry) Lyle and son, Grant (Marty) Shaw, and grandson, Landon Shaw, Molly Shaw, mother of his children, all of Clarksville, TN and sister, Amanda (Rudy) Reddick of Bowling Green, KY.
