Virginia Nell Schartiger, a devoted homemaker and loving mother, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024, in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was born on January 21, 1936, in Waynesboro, Tennessee. Virginia's gentle and caring nature touched the lives of everyone around her.
Throughout her life, Virginia's primary focus was her family. She was a dedicated wife to her late husband SFC (Ret) David Schartiger, whom she married in 1965. As an Army wife, Virginia supported her husband through his military service with unwavering love and strength. Her commitment to maintaining a warm and nurturing home allowed her family to thrive.
Virginia's proudest accomplishment was the love and care she poured into her children, Gloria Gilbert (her late husband Michael), Tammy Seeber (married to Tim), Darlene Pinckley (married to Wayne). She cherished her role as a mother and embraced this responsibility with grace and selflessness. Virginia's dedication to providing unconditional love and guidance to her children shaped their lives in profound ways. In addition to her children, Virginia is survived by siblings, Wallace Gannon, Nadine Strickland, and Josephine Richardson; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded by parents, Robert E. and Carline Lee Gannon; and siblings, JT Gannon, Bobby Gannon, and Roberta Staggs.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Virginia found fulfillment in her career at Acme Boot Company. Her hard work and diligence were recognized by her colleagues as Virginia approached her role there with enthusiasm and always strived for excellence. Outside of work and family life, Virginia enjoyed spending time with close friends old and new. Her kind-hearted nature drew people towards her, seeking solace, advice, or simply a comforting presence. Virginia had an innate ability to make others feel seen and supported; she touched many lives with her genuine warmth. Additionally, she especially enjoyed worship and membership at Sycamore Flats Church of Christ.
