Virgil "Tate" Griffy

Virgil "Tate" Griffy, age 92 of Clarksville, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Hinton officiating. Burial will follow at Dotsonville Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 12 noon until the hour of service on Wednesday.
Virgil was born on November 8, 1923 in Montgomery County, the son of the late Caldwell Griffy and Oneda Wooten Griffy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Martin Griffy; brothers, Hubert Griffy, Sr. and Bernice Griffy; sisters, Thelma Morrison, Edna Harris, Minnie Mae Sutton, and Mable McWhorter. Virgil was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army and later worked as a farmer and was a member of Dotsonville Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughter, Shirley (Michael) Winn; grandchildren, Timothy Winn, Christopher Winn, Steven Winn, and Jessica Winn; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Robold, Betty Manners, and Juanita Darnell.
Pallbearers include Kent Griffy, Kevin McWhorter, Mike Swift, Steven Winn, Tim Winn, and Chris Winn. Honorary pallbearer will be Hubert Lee Griffy, Jr.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brenda Medina and the staff at Clarksville Nursing and Rehab.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dotsonville Church of Christ.
