Our loving mother Violet "Judy" Johnson age 87 passed peacefully in her sleep on Dec.27, 2015.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Kirby William Johnson Senior, Marie Hubbard Broughton her mother, and a grandson Kirby Johnson III.
Kirby and Judy were high school sweethearts born just two weeks apart in 1928. He called her Judy in high school and did every day until his death on November 24, 2006.
After Kirby's Army basics at Camp Campbell Kentucky they were married at the original Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, TN. A successful and long military career followed with their decision to claim Clarksville Tn. as they're forever home.
Judy taught painting in the Michaels Art Stores as well as teaching beginning painting in private lessons. She was accepted by two Tennessee Artists Associations. Her donated paintings of Jesus Life Stories, are still present in the New Providence Methodist Church. She was dedicated to the Choir for over 35 years and volunteered work to some Sunday school youth programs.
KIRBY JOHNSON Real Estate, became the workplace for both of them for many years. Licenses in Tennessee and Kentucky enhanced their success into providing University educations for their three children who survive them:
Kirby William Johnson Junior, Deborah M. Voorhies, Tresa Roller; five grandchildren, presently three great grandchildren, and her step sister Evelyn Broughton Combs Delong of Richlands Va.
Services will be held by McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home at 1209 Madison Street Clarksville, TN on Dec.31st at 1 p.m. with viewing from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. The short service is in the on premise chapel.
Burial will not follow per request of Kirby Johnson Junior, until 10 a.m. Monday January 4th, 2016 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West near Hopkinsville, KY where Judy’s beloved husband CWO3 Kirby Johnson Senior is buried.
Matthew Rollin Voorhies, Judy's oldest grandson, will be in command of the families who participate in attending her burial. Funeral home transport will proceed to burial, and pallbearers will be provided by funeral home.
Judy will receive a special ritual given by her sorority at the Dec.31st service.
She is in the "Order of the Rose" the highest honor bestowed worldwide to members who have been active more than twenty years in Beta Sigma Phi women’s International Sorority. Judy’s chapter is Preceptor Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and the Clarksville Tn. city council certainly will miss Judy’s membership.
She loved all animals and it was her well known trait over the years many who came to her yard were fortunate.
Special donations may be made in her name to the Humane Society of Clarksville Tn.in memory of her beloved dogs: Rocky Johnson and Bandit Martin.
Judy’s health improved greatly once in the southwest desert climate, of Idaho and care she received from her loving caregivers, care team, and especially Mildred Westphal from Grandview Destiny’s Door Agency. Judy traveled, had weekly trips out to shop, dine, and she loved long drives in the country mountains of Idaho.
She met many friends at the church she attended while living with family there. DNA testing affirmed her Parkinson’s disease with LBD complications and Heart disease declining her status.
She moved in with her family from the Alf she'd chosen to enjoy more family time, and her therapy cat whom she'd made into a pet.
Thanks go out to:
