Vernon Woodrow Mosley, age 71, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 27, 2013 while surrounded by his family at his home in Clarksville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Reverend Craig Wascovich officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
The Mosley family will be receiving friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 12 noon until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
Vernon entered this life on August 28, 1942 in Humphreys County, Tennessee, to the late Woodrow and Stella Smith Mosley. He was actively involved in a 30 year law enforcement career where he served with both the Clarksville Police Dept. and the Montgomery Co. Sheriff's Office. At the time of his retirement from the Sheriff's Office he was assigned to the Montgomery Co. Court System. Vernon was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a dedicated servant to his family, his community, his church, and above all, his Lord. He belonged to the First Christian Church of Clarksville.
Survivors include his wife of over 48 years, Janet Seay Mosley, his daughter, Tara Mosley Taylor and her husband Jeff, and grandson, Braden Taylor, all of Clarksville. He is also survived by his sister and her husband, Catherine and LeRoy Perigo of Waverly.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Dickens, Billy Batson, Don Dixon, David Welch, Jimmy Worthington, Larry Alford, Jerry Weatherspoon, Larry Hodge, Mark Smith, and Pat Vaden. Past Sheriff Billy Smith will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Memorial contributions are preferred to the First Christian Church of Clarksville.
