Verna Jones

Verna Lee Jones, 90, of Jonesboro passed from this life Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in Clarksville, Tennesse. She was born October 6, 1924 in Tom, Oklahoma to the late Charlie and Ethel Chadwick. She was a member of the County Line Church of Christ for many years. Verna was a school teacher for 30 years at South School here in Jonesboro.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Noel Nutt; one son, Charles Chadwick Nutt; one daughter, Francis Jean Gregory; two sisters: Clara Ward and Sue Chadwick and one brother, Bo Chadwick.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Jones of the home; sons: Michael (Mary) Nutt, Bart Kennedy, Bruce (Tina) Kennedy all of Jonesboro; two daughters: Becky (Steve) McLaughlin of Hendersonville, Tennesse and Michelle Gregory of Nashville, Tennesse; four great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Pine Hill Cemetery with active pallbearers being Michael Nutt, David Anthony Yarbrough and Steven Gregory McLaughlin.

Visitation will be held Monday, from 12:30-1:30 pm at Emerson Funeral Home
