Tommye Elizabeth Lewis Vickrey Middleton of Clarksville passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 7:40 PM at St. Thomas Hospital.
Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Pat VanDyke officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Tommye was born March 8, 1929 in Caldwell County, KY to parents Bessie Bell White and Thomas Powell Lewis of Princeton, KY. She was the last surviving of 13 children.
In 1947 she married Kenneth Ross Vickrey (deceased), and together they were the parents of Karen Meacham (John, deceased), Donna Bryan (Jim), Kathy Terrell, and Ken Vickrey, Jr. (Bonita).
In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Joey Terrell, Jenny Meacham, Josh Terrell, Kasey Terrell Ladd (Josh), Ross Bryan, Matthew Bryan, Kenneth Vickrey III (Jaymee), Wade Vickrey (Tollie), Charlie Vickrey (Caroline), as well as 9 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After 20 years of widowhood, she found her next incredible love and married Bob Middleton in November 2006. Their love was so special that Bob moved his life from Tyler, TX to Clarksville, TN to share a life with Tommye. She also gained a stepson, Jim Middleton (Suzanne) and his family.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and Sue Goad’s Sunday School class. She had such a love for the Lord, and as her favorite song, Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” perfectly captures, that was her true outlook on life and the world God created.
Tommye was the perfect caring, loving picture of a wife, mother, and grandmother to a family who adored her. She loved them above all else and made each and every one feel special. She also enjoyed traveling, flowers, fashion, decorating, and took such pride in her yard.
Tommye was Vice President and Office Manager of Herbert Vickrey Company, and office manager of Jim Freeman, Co.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Find Us Faithful Fund.
