Tom Perry passed away surrounded by family on January 26, 2023, at age 72.
He was the son of the late Robert and Monnie Perry. He was married to Suzanne Pace, and they resided in the Kirkwood Community of Montgomery County. He was a graduate of Clarksville High School, Austin Peay State University, and the Nashville School of Law. He pursued a business career and was the Chief Financial Officer of Delta Dental of Tennessee retiring in 2015 with decades of service. In 2015, he received the Nashville Business Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Over the period of three decades, he served as a member of the Board of Directors for two start-up community banks.
He was an active lifelong member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church. He was a Boy Scout and received the God and Country Award. He chaired Austin Peay State University’s College of Business Advisory Board and was a frequent classroom lecturer. He served on, and led, the Board of the Gateway Chamber Orchestra and often volunteered at Clarksville area food distribution charities. Tom enjoyed golfing with family and friends and volunteered at numerous Clarksville Junior Golf Tournaments. He and his wife Susie enjoyed traveling as well as hosting family, friends, and Sunday School groups. Tom was a steadfast fan and supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers football team. One of his favorite endeavors was being a grandfather to his only grandchild, Harper Perry.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Robert Perry and Monnie Perry Powers. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susie P. Perry, his son Ben (Nicole) Perry, his granddaughter Harper Perry, his brother Bob (Mary Frances) Perry and his niece Martha Brooke (Jeffrey) Martin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2023, in the sanctuary at the Madison Street United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Reverend Harriet Bryan officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2023 and again commencing at 1:00 pm on February 4, 2023, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Madison Street United Methodist Church, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
