Thurell Myers

Thurell Bruce Myers, age 99 of Clarksville, TN passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

He was born on May 19, 1924 in Oakway, South Carolina; son of the late William and Bessie Myers, living on his family’s farm until the he joined in U.S. Navy at the age of seventeen. Thurell served his country for a total of 30 years and retired once he completed his serve at Clarksville Navy Base. After his retirement he worked for TVA in Cumberland City for 16 years and during which time he worked part time for Cushman Concessions. Thurell enjoyed his 68 years living in Clarksville, TN. In November 2022 he was named in Clarksville Now for his story on and the time of the surrounding WWII when he witnessed Japan surrendering in which time he served as a gunner’s mate. Thurell served  WWII, Korea, Vietnam Middle America Crisis.

Thurell was a Christian and loved  his family and friends. He enjoyed having cookouts, swimming, mexican  food and most of all Thurell simply enjoyed life itself.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Janice Smith Myers, Doris Hall Myers, Susan Mountain Myers; seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his three children; Deborah Hendricks, Piper Sweatmen, Cliff Myers and his wife, Annette Myers; grandchildren, Katie Teal, Josh Hendricks, Adam Sweatman, Brandon Myers, Victoria and Cory Knight.
