Thomas Kent Addis

MSGT (Ret) Thomas Kent Addis, born on October 20, 1937, in Rardin, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Clarksville, Tennessee. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, dedication, and love for those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Thomas enjoyed a distinguished military career, dedicating 24 years of service to the U.S. Air Force, where he rose to the esteemed rank of Master Sergeant. Throughout his tenure, he excelled as a Munitions Specialist and was recognized with several Expeditionary Medals and Unit Citations for his exemplary combat duties during 3 tours in the Vietnam War and received a bronze star for heroism and valor. His commitment to service and duty exemplified the values of courage and resilience.

Beyond the military, Thomas was a deeply involved member of his community. He was a member of the Brocton Christian Church and actively participated in veterans' organizations, serving as a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Thomas had a passion for automobiles. He enjoyed applying his skills at the Ford Motor Company, where he spent 20 years. He also appreciated time spent maintaining his own vehicles.

Thomas is survived by his children, Thomas John Addis (Theresa) of Danville, IL, Bonnie Marie Addis of Clarksville, TN and Harold Manuel Addis of Farmer City, IL. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings: Dwyane Addis (Judy) of The Villages, FL, Caron A. Sims of Clarksville, TN and Merry Sue Schroeder (Jim) of Lyles, TN. Additionally, Thomas leaves behind a cherished family that includes grandchildren, Thomas, Mercedes, Claudia (Josh Meyer), Gracie (Dakota Cordrey), Victoria, Danielle, Rious; and a host of great grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Paquita F. Addis.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold Eugene Addis and Bonnie Marie Peddycoart Addis; and two brothers and one sister.

He will be laid to rest at a later date at Van Voorhis Cemetery, Hindsboro, IL. Air Force Honors will be rendered. As we remember Thomas Kent Addis, we celebrate a man who dedicated his life to serving his country and his family, leaving behind an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he fostered.
