Stayton Black, 88, Cunningham, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at his home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born September 9, 1919 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee, son of Dan Black and Mary Martha Baggett Black. Mr. Black was retired from the Montgomery Co. School System, a WWII Army veteran, a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, member of Palmyra Lodge #747, and was associated with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department for over thirty six years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Jane Baggett Black. He is survived by his fiancee Thelma Haley, his son Stayton Darnell (Patsy) Black of Cunningham, brother Clayton Black of Cunningham, grandchildren Missy Thomas, JoAnn Johansen, Stayton Darnell "Bubb" Black, April Jane Wright, and Daniel Clayton Black, and twelve great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be S.D. "Bubb" Black, Dan Black, Donald Black, Edwin Johansen, Chris Thomas, and Billy Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Katherine Black, Will Black, Amanda Bluedorn, Brandon Bluedorn, Chelsie Johansen, Michael Johansen, Travis Thomas, and Tyler Wright.
