SSG Yosiro M. Luther, age 28, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at Tennova Healthcare.

Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon, Friday, September 10, 2021, with Chaplain Jerry Miller from 2nd Battalion 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Abn). Burial and Military Honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

All services will be held at First Baptist Church of Clarksville, Grace Building. 499 Commerce Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.

Yosiro entered this life on February 22, 1993, in Salinas, California to Robert and Srue Abraham Cornelius. He was a 2011 graduate of Kenwood Highschool and enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 15, 2012, as a 15C, Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Operator. After attending Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, SSG Luther successfully completed Enlisted Combat Skills and became a Night Stalker of the 160th SOAR (Abn) and was assigned to E Co 2/160th on May 2, 2013. While serving as a Grey Eagle Operator of E Co. 2/160th SOAR (Abn), SSG Luther was instrumental in the success of 9 deployments in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, OPERATION JUNIPER SHIELD. During his service in the 160th, he accumulated a total of 3,556.6 flight hours, participated in over 800 combat missions, and executed over 100 Hellfire strikes with surgical precision. SSG Luther’s military schools include 15C (UAS Operator Course) Advanced Individual Training, Enlisted Combat Skills, SOF UAS Operator Course, Basic Leader Course, and SOF UAS Instructor Operator-Standardization Officer Course.

SSG Luther’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal with 3 clasps, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Stars (CS), the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal with 2 CS, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Medal, and the Basic Aviation Badge.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 4 years, Leilani Luther, and sisters, Kenye Tolenoa and Yonamie West. Yosiro also leaves behind his four-legged, Husky companions, Roli and Sima.
