SSG (Ret) William R. Campbell

William Richard Campbell, Jr., 71, Southside, passed away, Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at VA Hospital, Nashville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon Monday, December 3, 2012 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Nolan and Larry Lafferty officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
William was born February 7, 1941 in Phoenix, AZ, son of the late William Richard Campbell, Sr. and Louetta Posey Campbell. William was retired from the U.S. Army, having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a Vietnam veteran and recipient of numerous awards and commendations throughout his military career including the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. He was a member of the Clarksville Church of God and belonged to the Tennessee State Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lora Baggett Campbell; sons, William Richard Campbell III, Warren Rudolph Campbell, Wayne Ralph Campbell and wife Lisa, and Walter Ray Campbell and wife Sandra; brothers, Dennis Ray Campbell, Jimmy Roy Campbell; and sister, Marsha Louise Schrader. He was the proud grandfather of William Richard Campbell IV, Erica Rochelle Campbell, Christina Marie Campbell, Brittney McGonagil, Courtney Mae Gill, Abigail Lee Campbell, Grace Nicole Campbell, Alissa Faith Campbell, Briana Elizabeth Renae Campbell, Estephanita Leann Mendoza, Steven Louis Mendoza, Elianna Faith Campbell, and Jessica Young. He had three great grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Roger Campbell and Steven Robert Campbell.
Sons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
