SSG (Ret) Roger Dale Goins, a man of honor and dedication, passed away on March 3, 2024. He was retired from The United States Army, where he served with distinction, earning accolades such as the Army Commendation Medal (10LC) and the Army Achievement Medal (30LC), among numerous other ribbons, medals, and badges. Throughout his life, he was not only committed to his country but also to his community and faith.
Born on March 13, 1950, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Frank and Lena Goins, his journey was one marked by bravery and service. A proud member of Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the NRA, and the American Legion, he touched the lives of many with his kindness and strong sense of duty.
In addition to his parents, he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Georgia Ann Goins. Together they shared a love that will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving children: Russell Bennett Goins, Franklin Dale Goins, Jolena Marie Frost, Melissa (James) Moore and Kirsta Wentworth. In addition to his children, Roger leaves behind grandchildren, Parker Dylan Wentworth and Nichole Moore. He also leaves behind siblings, Mike Goins and Marie (Bud) Hooker.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rocky Johnson officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Roger’s legacy as a dedicated soldier, loving family man, and faithful community member will forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
