SSG (Ret) Harris Wood

SSG (Ret) Harris Eugene Wood, age 80, of Clarksville, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Ahava Healthcare of Clarksville.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors.

The Wood family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and again Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Harris entered into this life on January 28, 1938, in Atlanta, GA son of the late Harris and Virginia Rainwater Wood. In the fall of 1955, with the Vietnam War beginning, the young teenage Wood geared up and went to battle. After twenty one years of service, Wood retired from the United States Army as an E-6 Stagg Sgt. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and spent eighteen years as a truck driver for Tanksley Transfer.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Roserita Wood.

Survivors include his daughters, Judy Cox, Claudia Wood, and Renee Case; sisters, Gloria Mitchell, and Debbie Wood; brother, Richard Wood; grandchildren, Andrew and Kevin Cox; great-grandson, Logan Cox.
