SSG (Ret) Edwin Cordova, age 46, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 in Peru due to injuries resulting from a helicopter crash.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon Friday, January 18, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the church.
Edwin was born November 4, 1966 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, son of Carlos R. and Juanita Rivera Cordova. He was retired from the U.S. Army following a twenty year military career in which he dutifully served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Among other citations and commendations Edwin was awarded the Army Air Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was an accomplished aircraft mechanic and was a graduate of the Embry Riddle Aeronautics Institute. Most recently Edwin was employed with Columbia Helicopters. He had a hobbyist passion for cars and watches.
In addition to his former wife, Dalia V. Cordova he survived by his children, Dalwin, Edwin Jr., and Veronica, all of Clarksville.
