SSG Dustin L. DeBoer, age 31, of Fort Campbell, Kentucky passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at his residence with his wife, Emily DeBoer, by his side. A celebration of his life will be held at 6 o'clock on Monday, July 23rd, 2012 at Memorial Chapel, Fort Campbell, Kentucky with Chaplain Captain Luis Anda Officiating. Visitation will be from 11 o'clock until 1 o'clock and from 3 o'clock until 5 o'clock also on Monday, July 23rd, 2012 at Memorial Chapel, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Interim will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia with full military honors on July 31st, 2012 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and a Unit Memorial Service at Fort Campbell, Kentucky shall be announced at a later date.

Dustin, "Debo" was born of Roxann (DeBoer) LeFurge on August 21, 1980 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He married and entered the Army in 2002 and at the time of his passing had earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. Through his years of honorable service he completed 2 tours in Iraq and 2 tours in Afghanistan, earning multiple medals and awards such as; The Army Commendation Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, The Army Achievement Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, The Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd award), National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon 3rd award, Overseas Ribbon 4th award, NATO Medal, Air Assault Badge, Airborne Badge, Driver & Mechanic Badge, Driver-W Bar, Combat & Special Skill Badge, Basic Marksmanship Qualifications Badge at the Expert & Sharpshooter levels on multiple weapons. In addition to these awards SSG DeBoer also received multiple Commendations and Certifications while defending his country.

Dustin was preceded in death by his great grandmother; Nellie Vermeer, grandparents; Lewis and Anna Mae Simons and his brother, Caleb VanderSyde who passed in December of 2011. Dustin is survived by his wife; Emily DeBoer, daughter; Madison VanderSyde-DeBoer, and son; Aydin DeBoer, all of Kentucky, grandparents; Richard and Mary VanAllsburg, Michigan, Merril and Ruegena VanderSyde, Michigan, parents; Tom and Roxann LeFurge, Michigan, Nan and Bernie Dykhouse, North Carolina, Greg and Nancy VanderSyde, Texas, sisters; Jennifer Tadeo and Lauren LeFurge, both of Michigan, Kristin and Alisha VanderSyde, both of North Carolina, Mila Rocha and Vanessa VanderSyde, both of Texas, brother; Seth VanderSyde, Georgia, best friends; Scott Cunningham, Ohio, Rob Goss and Jeff Bieska, both of Michigan; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many of his Army Comrades and their families.Military Personnel will serve as pallbearers and include: SPC Matthew Gozalkowski, SPC Seth VanderSyde, SGT Clifford Edwards, SSG Mark Burch, SSG Justin Cramer, SSG Andrew Moser, and SFC Jason Cundiff. Official Military Escorts to Arlington National Cemetery will be SPC Seth VanderSyde and SGT Codi Pringle
