Shirley Ann Huggins Stokes, 77, Clarksville, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
A celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Cal Hampton and Rev. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel and from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the Church.
Mrs. Stokes was born January 9, 1938 in Clarksville, and was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Alexander and Currilla Ellen Hayes Huggins; brother, Robert Huggins; sisters, Mildred Harrison, Margaret Davis, Betty Huggins; and granddaughter, Heather Joy Davis.
She was a member of Kenwood Baptist Church until 2005 and was currently a member of First Baptist Church Clarksville, Queen City Doll Club, Crown Victoria Association and the 54 Ford Club. She was a 1956 graduate of Clarksville High School, an avid collector of dolls, a homemaker and worked for Clarksville Montgomery County Schools as a bus driver for 34 years.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Calvin Cecil Stokes; son, David Wayne (Julie) Stokes; daughters, Connie Yvonne (Randall T) Smith, Brenda Joy (Randle) Davis; grandchildren, Michael Smith, Amanda VanMeter, Ashley Seals, Heidi Sons, Emily Davis, Patrick Davis; seven great-grandchildren with one more expected soon.
Pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Patrick Davis, Jim Harrison, Doyle Harrison, Lee Tierney, Wes Tierney, Ricky Stokes, David Dockins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Dickson's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
