SGT (Ret.) Larry Williams

April 19, 1959 — November 11, 2022

Our loving father SGT (Ret) Larry Williams was born on April 19, 1959, in Clarksville, TN.

He was the eldest son of the late Clay Williams JR and Evangelist Mary Moss Williams. He departed this earthly life on Veteran’s Day early morning Friday, November 11, 2022, in Nashville, TN. He received his education from Fayetteville County Schools and was a graduated of E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Shortly after high school he joined the United States Army in Raleigh, North Carolina. While in the army he received medals for Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Assault Badge, Good Conduct Medal, M16 Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge, and as well as attending Air Assault school. His nickname amongst his peers was “BIG WILL”. He was stationed in Germany and several other locations. He was quickly promoted to E5. SGT. Williams retired to his last duty station in Fort Campbell, KY. He loved to carry his bible around, going over each passage and chapter. He loved to reference Jesus as the “People’s Champ!”. He was devoted to his weekly bible studies with his local church Open Door Ministries even when he wasn’t present. He also never missed his prayer meetings with his closest friends. Known for walking everywhere near the “Mill”, relaxing at the Greek restaurant sipping tea, or even taking a stroll to waffle house or the nearest laundromat. He was loved by his neighbors dearly.

I thank God for granting the time to see the difference in you and graciously will cherish those moments forever. His heart was full of life, prosperity, and love towards mankind. He truly loved the lord and took his personal devotion to Christ and his spirituality serious.

Sgt. Larry Williams leaves fond memories to be adored by his family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Williams, Evg. Mary Williams, and Clay Williams JR. Survivors include his daughters; Felisha Williams, Sheena Williams, Patrice (Alva) Whisnant; grandchildren: Danielle Whisnant, Mardea Whisnant, Ava Whisnant, and Zion Molla. He leaves behind his brothers: Tarry Williams and Gary Williams and loving sister-in-law, Loretta (Oscar) Merriweather and Sandra “D.D.” Twitty, and Tony Ligon. With a host of aunts, uncles, and nieces and nephews.
