SGT Jose Rivera, Jr.

Jose Antonio Rivera, Jr., age 45, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 17, 2019 at his home while surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life with US Army Honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Burton officiating. Joses' family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Jose was born on December 15, 1973 in Trenton, New Jersey son of Flor Dalisa Cortes South and Jose A. Rivera. He entered active duty service with the US Army in August 2007 and the majority of his eleven year military career was spent as a Logistics Specialist. He bravely served in Afghanistan and was the recipient of numerous service, conduct, and developmental medals, ribbons and decorations. Jose was a fanboy and geek for anything related to comics and enjoyed collecting books and toys. He also enjoyed playing computer games and spending time with his family. Also, Jose was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to his mother Flor, survivors include his wife, Thu Rivera; children, Samantha, Willie, and Alexis Rivera and Phillip Ho, Henry Ho, and Nhi Le; his siblings Angel Rivera and Natalie Marie Faircloth; and grandchildren, Nicole and Shane.
