Visitation and Services:
The funeral service for crane operator Bobby Joe Jones of Springville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Edward Cox, a chaplain, will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.
Members of the military will serve as pallbearers.
Obituary:
Jones, 46, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. The cause of death was not given.
His wife, Margaret “Maggie” McKenzie Jones, survives. They were married on Jan. 23, 1995.
Born Dec. 23, 1965, in Garrett, Ind., he was a son of Rose Mary Bherns Jones Gottfried of Garrett and the late Richard Jones.
Jones had worked for many years with International Union Operating Engineers Local 365 in Memphis. He had served in the National Guard for 26 years, including active duty deployment to Iraq, once with the Paris unit and once with the Smyrna unit. He had been preparing to go with the Union City unit. He was a member of American Legion Post 89. His wife said he enjoyed shooting pool, darts and spending time with his family.
Besides his mother and wife, he leaves one daughter: Jacqueline Bray of Lawrenceville, N.J.; one son: Michael Mross of Tobyhanna, Pa.; one stepdaughter: Sandy Burton of Big Rock; one stepson: Joseph “J.J.” (Ann) Burton of Galion, Ohio; two sister: Shauntel Brooks of Garrett; two brothers: Randy Jones of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Timmy Jones of Paducah; one grandmother: Betty Albright of Auburn, Ind.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Richard Allen Jones, preceded him in death.
