Roy Lester Whitehead, 80, Clarksville, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Glenda Woods officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 4, 1930 in Rochelle, TX and was the son of the late Robert Frank and Lela Simmons Whitehead. Mr. Whitehead was a Retired U.S. Army Veteran and attended the Assemblies of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Vaughn Whitehead, Clarksville; sons, Roy E. (Kathleen) Whitehead, Ashland City, Kenneth L. (Lori) Whitehead, Columbus, GA; daughters, Tere (Paul) Gurnon, Clarksville, Kathy Glover, Kokomo, IN; brother, Robert Whitehead, Georgetown, TX; sisters, Mildred Staton, Georgetown, TX, Idola Green, Pfluggerville, TX, Eva Bowen, Brownwood, TX; and Edith Todd, Pfluggerville, TX; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
