SFC Phillip C. Tanner, 43, Clarksville, TN died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, in Kuwait. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson, with full military honors with Chaplain Michael Krog officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. The remains are to be cremated. He was born October 18, 1967 in Wyoming and was preceded in death by his father, Martin Allen Tanner; mother, Evelyn Walston LaFever; step-father, Harley Dean LaFever; and step-brother, Harley Dean LaFever II. SFC Tanner was a Motor Transportation Operator assigned to 541st Transportation Company, 106th Transportation Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in Oct 1993 and arrived at Fort Campbell in March 2007. His awards and decorations include: Bronze Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; Non- Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; National Defense Service Medal; Korea Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; United Nations Medal; NATO Medal; and Driver Mechanic Badge. He was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Hyun Tanner, Clarksville; daughter, Ashley M. Tanner, Hinesville, GA; sisters, Taresa Baldwin, Bedford, IND, Shara Sidebottom, Springfield, OR, Harlettie Skaggs, Eakly, OK; step-sisters, Lorraine LaFever and Gail LaFever.
