SFC (Ret) Laurent Robert ‘Bob’ Rose, 80, Hopkinsville, KY, went to be with the Lord, Monday, November 29, 2010. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West Outdoor Committal Shelter with Pastor Keith Sage officiating. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born in Boston, MA, March 12, 1930, Bob was a Scituate High School Graduate and had opportunity to play professional baseball. Bob later joined the U.S. Army and was a retired Sergeant First Class having served in the 173rd Airborne at Ft. Campbell, Vietnam (2 tours), Korea, Japan, Panama and finally with 101st Airborne at Ft Campbell, KY. Among his many decorations such as the Bronze Star and ARCOM, Bob was most proud of his Master Parachutist Badge making over 200 jumps in his 21 year career. After retiring from military service, Bob also retired from Vulcan Rubber Company in Clarksville, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ayako ‘Anne’ Nakaji Rose in 1997 and his mother Mabel Oliver O’Brien in 2008. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Wayne Richard Rose and daughter-in-law Linda Rose of Clarksville, TN; Granddaughters, Brandi Anne Rose and Jessica Lynne Rose and their mother Tammy Rose of Clarksville, TN; step-grandchildren, Megan Moery and Mandy Moery of Clarksville, TN; step-great-grandchildren, Samara and Jaymen Rosario and Jada Duncan of Clarksville, TN; former spouse, Mattie Hite of Hopkinsville, KY; step-children, Bridgette Wells and her husband Anthony Wells and Timothy Parker of Hopkinsville, KY; step-grandchildren, Brookelynne and Landon Wells of Hopkinsville, KY; sisters and spouses: Diane and Charles Skinner of Stoughton, MA, Gail and Edward Lawrence of Pompano Beach, FL, Delores and Herb Maggio of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Brenda McWhirk of Hanson, MA, Jean & James Muise of Billerica, MA, Jacqueline Paterson of Lakeville, MA, Margaret Sheridan of Corinna, ME, Mary Witunsky of Lynn, MA; Brothers and Spouses, Frank and Donna O'Brien of Acushnet, MA, Joseph and Sis O'Brien of Winthrop, MA, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and special friend Capt (Ret) Lee Jenkins of Cohasset, MA.
