SFC Porfirio Avila, age 35, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon Friday, December 8, 2017 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Avila Family Cemetery, Indian Mound, Tennessee. Full Military Honors will be rendered.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
Porfirio entered into this life on April 8, 1982 in Longview, Texas to parents Julian and Maria Vera Avila. SFC Avila loved his country and was a proud soldier of the US Army. Beyond his unwavering dedication to his country, Porfirio was a devoted family man. He was a loving father, ever-faithful husband, and to those that knew him, a great friend with a heart of gold. Porfirio attended Wilee's Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, Maria, survivors include his loving wife, Winona Joy Cunningham-Avila; children, Porfirio, Luvenia, Alyssia, and his unborn child; siblings, Israel Avila, Omero Avila, Oscar Avila, Jessie O'Brien, Dessie Smith, Nancy Olivares, and Veronica Maxey; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hurley and Jennifer Cunningham.
Memorial contributions are preferred to be made to his children. An account for them will be set up through the local USAA Financial Center.
