SFC Ofren "AC"Arrechaga, 28, of Clarksville, was killed in action Tuesday, March 29, 2011 while honorably serving his country in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Main Church with Father David Gaffney officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held following the funeral mass at 1 p.m. at the church with Captain (CH) Ibe Officiating and Brigadier General (BG) Ole A. Knudson will be the General Officer Representative and the Army' Senior Officer in Charge. Interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY. Full Military Honors will be rendered. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Friday at the church. A Rosary will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 7 p.m. SFC Arrechaga was born December 22, 1982 in Havana, Cuba, son of Roberto Alvarez, Sr. and Marta Alvarez. On September 1, 2007 he married the love of his life, Seana Minikhiem Arrechaga. Ofren was an Infantryman assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Valorous Unit Award; Meritorious Unit Citation; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; Ranger Tab; Expert Infantryman Badge; Parachutist Badge; Air Assault Badge and Combat Infantryman Badge. Ofren' passion for life was evident in his distinctive laughter, sense of humor, and infectious smile. While he was undeniably an exemplary soldier and leader, he was above all a dedicated husband and father. Ofren gave his all in everything he did, and though he may be gone from this earth, his inner light will forever warm the lives of those he touched, and his unforgettable dancing will always bring a smile to our hearts. Survivors include his wife, Seana Arrechaga and son, Alston Arrechaga, both of Clarksville, daughter Tristian Arrechaga of Benton, KY, his parents of Clarksville, brother, Robert Alvarez, Jr. of Clarksville, and sister Claudia Arrechaga-Rodriguez of Naples, FL.
