Mr. Samuel “Sam” Ormen Howell, age 25 of Tennessee Ridge, TN, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Jonathan Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Howell family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and from 8:00 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday.
Sam entered this life on June 18, 1989 in Dickson, TN, son of Tony and Nancy Howell. Sam graduated from Houston County High School in 2007 and soon joined the United States Army to serve in the Special Forces Division as an army Ranger. While serving, Sam was deployed six times during a five year period where he fought in both Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Sam earned many decorations including the Army Commendation Medal (second award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Army Service Ribbon, the Nato Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, and Parachutist Badge. Sam proudly served his country, loved spending time with family and friends, and loved to serve others by helping anyone he could.
Survivors include his loving parents and many family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be his friends, who he considered his brothers.
