Ruth Potter Ellis, age 86, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Gateway Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Ronnie Austin and Don Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Her family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Ruth entered this life on September 28, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter to Louis and Frances Powers Potter. She had worked for the former Harvey's Department Store for a number of years and was a wonderful homemaker to her family. Ruth belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to her father, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Ellis. She is survived by her mother, Frances Potter of Dover, TN; children, Tom Ellis and wife Mary of Benton, TN and Billie Ruth Nanney and husband Eddie of Clarksville; and brothers Ted Ross Potter of Nashville and Bob Potter of Dover. She was an adoring grandmother to Laura Beth Bumpus of Ashland City and Mary Elizabeth Ellis of Chattanooga and great grandmother to Sarah, Suzannah, John, and Catherine. She also leaves behind her dearest of friends and help-mates, Wanda McDaniel and Peggy Poole.
Serving as pallbearers are Josh Bumpus, Eddie Nanney, Todd Potter, Pat Potter, Randy Anthony, Darrell Cravath, Connell Austin, and Howard Parker, Jr.
