Ruth M. Bacon

March 1, 1939 — February 29, 2024

Clarksville

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Ruth M Bacon. She was born March 1, 1939 to Frank Edward Aldrich and Hazel Altra Fletcher. She grew up a farmers daughter tough as nails and could race just like the boys! She was the loving wife of Jesse H Bacon for 53 years upon marring she became the step mom of Jesse Horace Bacon Jr of Chester Vt. She was the best mom ever to Kennith (Kenny) William ( Barbara aka Babs) Bacon of Sharon Vt, Frank Aldrich ( Mary)Bacon , Gregory (Greg) Paul Bacon of Alstead NH, Jessie Louise (Heather) Bacon / Patrick of West Minster Station, Vt and Rebecca (Becky) Elvinia Bacon ( Kenny Schultz) of Dover, Tn. She made where ever we lived our home. Each of us born in different states as we were a military family, she was a Den mother, a Scout mother, and Brownie leader amongst many other titles. After our father’s oretirement from the Army in 1971 we settled in Alstead, NH. She worked many different jobs Whitney Blake, Vanhussin , as a CNA, and at Stowe Mills. upon her retirement she filled her life with family, travel and crafts. She leaves a legacy that we her children could never fill. In her young life before her family she faced her greatest grief of loosing her first husband Arnold Jock after being married only 9 days to a mining accident. She went back to school to finish her senior year and later that year met our father ( who she didn’t even like) but after only 2 weeks they married! Married as practically strangers and through the years became inseparable not that they didn’t have their arguments and disagreements over big and little things but THEY made it work! Together they had 6 children , 1 of which died from an early birth. After the passing of our father she came to live in the south. A different pace of life. She loved to crochet and knit where she made her BACH family all kinds of goodies from coffee coseys, little stuffed owls to hats for Christmas which made us all a little happier! She loved all her grandchildren the world over! She often said the only thing better than being a mom is being a grandmother! In order of birth as she liked it that way: Lori Hubbard, Monica, Brian Winter, Danielle Bean, Jesse Paul, Stephanie, Jodie, Gregory and Sara Bacon, Krystal Dyer, Nichole (Bacon)Plaish, Jonas, Celia, Emma Dyer, Adam and Reed Dewaters, Dalton and Kaleb Hutchinson , Kyli, Steven, Anthony and Ali Patrick. She also leaves great grandchildren Emily and Brandon Filiault, Cameron and Lexi Sims, Skyler (Levi) and Nora Colburn, Eli Mason, Michael Kinney, Justin and Kayla Pleisch, Christopher, Jasmine, and Connor Bacon, Emily Dyer, Harlan Dewaters,Oakley Gallion and Ledger Secore ( not in order) I have to mention her special son in law Billy, she loved him like a son and they had a great relationship one that no else could explain.. when she didn’t want to talk to her own children she wanted to talk to him she called him “ my Billy” for him I am very thankful for loving her for being there when no one else could, ( he sadly passed in 2019) Any way back to her life... her story...

She so looked forward to having 5 generations, (which she made it! Thanks to Brandon! Baby Beckett ) and to more traveling but life came to pass.. We will all miss that crazy woman! Frank once sang “ this is my life” to which in a flash of an eye he got smacked in the mouth! The woman who sang to the sheets after drinking a little much the night before at Jeanie and Dwane’s party, the one who jumped in my car and said “ if your gonna Kill yourself your taking me with you” to which I replied “ sure you’ll die and I will be left to live without you” at the age of 16 the mother who always went after her boys Frank and Greg when ever they got in trouble! The day she told Greg to keep the police busy so she could get his guns out of the wrecked car down the hill so that he wouldn’t get arrested! And my Favorite was when Holly threw the sit and spin at Greg and our mother told me to go to the car where through the back window I watched her grab Holly’s hands and put her in a corner and Holly said “ your only winning because you are bigger than me and mom replied “that’s right and if I were to sit on you, you would be nothing but a grease spot”! Still makes me laugh til tears sting my eyes!! Yup she was truly one of a kind! There were children’s significant others son in laws and a daughter in laws (almost) Holly Bean, (haha Bacon and Bean) Cheryl Winter, Doug Dyer, Bobby Smith, Owen DeWaters, Billy Mink, Tammy Sims ( who passed away in 2020) they each had a part in her life.last but not least her special friend Lloyd Pratt who texted her every day and light for the past 2 years, he put a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.. There are so many stories, so much love given that we her children should never forget! Even in her death she remains with us! So to honor her we must do better then we did... she was so heart broken when she lost our dad and none of us handled that well.. we all took separate roads so now today we must stand together and forgive each other and become who we are suppose to be! Jesse and Ruth’s children we are now parentless.. orphans at the ages from 65 To 57 so let’s make plans together to remember the good times to make new memories... after all we are the only family we have!

A memorial service will be held at 1300 on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at US Route 5 Westminster station. Please bring a dish and a story..
