Ruby Taylor

November 4, 1911 — April 17, 2016

Ruby Hollis Taylor, age 104, of Bumpus Mills and Clarksville, TN passed away on April 17, 2016 at Signature Health Care, Clarksville.
She was born in Marion County, AL on November 4, 1911, the eighth of ten children of Charlie and Alice Burleson Hollis. She married William "Buck" Taylor on December 24, 1932.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six sisters, three brothers and two great-granddaughters, Harriet and DeLeia Luck.
Ruby worked at many jobs over the years including Alabama Mills Textile, lamp factory, hospital nurses aid and private sitter with the elderly and ill. She and her husband owned and operated a general store in Yampertown(Twin), AL for many years including the growing-up years of their children.. They later owned and operated a restaurant in Guin, AL. In 1978 they moved to Bumpus Mills, 1N. After the death of her husband in 1979, she enjoyed her young grandchildren and provided most of their transportation to school activities and events. She also became chauffeur for her group of friends on their many trips. She always loved travel, experiencing new things and being actively involved in life and church Well into her 90's she continued to drive locally, maintain her household and mow and trim her yard.
A Christian from early adulthood, Ruby was a member of Bumpus Mills United Methodist Church and always provided a loving example for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her survivors: Son Bill Taylor(Marilyn), Bumpus Mills; Daughter Shirley Taylor, Clarksville; Grandson Jeff Taylor, Nashville; Granddaughter DeAnne Luck(Kevin) and Great-grandsons Spencer and Chris Luck, Woodlawn, and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements by McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, Clarksville(931-647-3371) and Norwood Funeral Home, Guin, AL (205-468-3323) Services are scheduled for 11:00 O'clock, Saturday April 30, 2016 in Guin with Jacqueline Pitt Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00 AM.
A celebration of Ruby's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, at Signature Health Care, 198 Old Farmers Rd, Clarksville, TN.
