Ruben F. Grimes, 89, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his residence.
A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, April 9, 2017 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Revs. David Mackens and Bob Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born December 1, 1927 in Clarksville, TN and was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Luther and Hattie “Mammie” Mixon Grimes; son, Allen Grimes; five brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Grimes was a life long farmer, retired mechanic and busdriver for Montgomery County School System. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle who was like a father to his nephews and nieces.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jane Weems Grimes; daughters, Judy (Larry) Wallace, Suzy (Keith) Griffin, Kim (George) Park; sister, Mary Myus; 9 grandchildren and 10 and a half great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chad Griffin, Chase Griffin, Coleby Park, Malcom McCurdy, Robert “Buddy” Grimes, Jimmy Grimes, Scott Grimes and Bryan Coulter. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandsons, nephews and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southside Cemetery Committee on which Mr. Grimes served.
