Roger Hughes

Roger Phillip Hughes, 74, Clarksville, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. Burial will be in Rye's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born July 29, 1933 in Linville Township, Avery County, NC and was the son of the late Ted Woodfill Hughes and Eula Virginia Stewart Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a retired operating engineer for local 324 and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a protestant. Survivors include his wife, Sue Harrell Hughes, Clarksville; daughter, Vickie (James) Anderson, Clarksville; granddaughter, Dawn Tomlinson, Cunningham, great-grandsons, Boston and Zach Salt; sister, Marge (Jim) Archer, Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law, Robert (Linda) Harrell; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Robert Harrell, Dale Harrell, Kenneth Wall, Burney Wall, Tony Nelson and Steve Nelson.
