Roger Atkins

Roger Dale Atkins, age 59 of Clarksville, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Beverly Dycus and Rev. David Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Wilee’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Roger entered this life on January 22, 1955 in Clarksville, the son of Elvin R. Atkins and Etha Burkhart Atkins. Roger was a graduate of North West High School, Class of 1973. He was a member of Wilee’s Chapel United Methodist Church and worked as an Engineering Specialist at Trane Company. He also was a founding member of the United Methodist Men’s Fellowship.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elvin R. Atkins; brother, Elvin Reynolds Atkins II; and sister, Nancy Gail Atkins.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Pitts Atkins; daughter, Amy Atkins; mother, Etha Burkhart Atkins; sisters, Patsy Atkins, Beverly (David) Dycus, and Susan (John) Hambley; father in law and mother in law, Joe and Alice Pitts, Sr.; brother in law and sister in law, Joe and Cindy Pitts, Jr.;18 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilee’s Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3321 Lylewood Rd. Woodlawn, TN 37191.
Pallbearers will be Dave Dycus, Jeff Atkins, Johnny Allen, Joe Pitts Jr., Keith Burkhart, and Joshua Hambley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ryan Pitts and James Burkhart.
