James Rodli Sumner, 69, Clarksville, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesdsay at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel with Rev. Eugene Wallace and Rev. Aquilla Penrod officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born October 2, 1938 in Stewart County. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Sumner and Erlene Shaw Sumner; and his son, Michael Shawn Sumner. Mr. Sumner was a self employed mason, a Baptist, and a National Guard Veteran. Survivors include his best friend, Kathryn Shelton, Clarksville; sons, Kent Sumner, Clarksville, Ronnie (Shannon) Sumner, Dwayne (Rhonda) Sumner, David Sumner, all of Big Rock; daughters, Johanna Singletary, Dickson, Ann Sumner, Chicago; sisters, Corene Stokes, Clarksville, Pat Bath, Georgia; eleven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be C.W. Stokes, Dan Bath, Paul Landrum, Steve Dodd, Ricky Stokes and Chuck Shelton.
