Robert F. Steer, 83, Clarksville, formerly of Michigan City, Indiana, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Montgomery County Care and Rehabilitation, Clarksville, TN. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. William H. Fine officiating. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Chapel of Chimes Mausoleum, LaPorte County, Indiana. Visitation will be from 9am until service time Tuesday at the funeral home in Indiana. McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Steer was born February 28, 1925 in Chicago, Ill the son of the late Walter and Louise Osterwald Steer. On June 4th, 1949 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Joan M. McIntyre who passed away September 24th, 1995. Also preceeding Mr. Steer in death is one son Gary F. Steer and sister Mildred Lloyd. Mr. Steer lived in Michigan City since 1944, coming from Chicago. He was retired from the Michigan City Area Schools, Elston High School Complex as maintenance administrator. He was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter #980, FOP#75, and St. John's United Church of Christ. Survivors include son, Kirk R. Steer(Pamela), Clarksville, brother, Fred H. Berger, Ft. Pierce, Fla,sister, Rosalynn Jergens,brother-in-law, Don McIntyre, sister-in-law, Kathy McIntyre, all of Michigan City, Ind, grandchildren, Kristopher Steer, Lauren Fry(Matthew), and Betsy Steer, and one Great Grandson, Aiden Fry, all of Clarksville. Friends and Family will be pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Waterford In Sango Attn: Ann, 300 Sango Dr. Clarksville, TN 37043.
