Robert Carroll Smith SR, age 72 of Erin, TN, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at Signature Healthcare of Erin.
A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. J.T. Baggett officiating. Interment will follow on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in Pittsboro Cemetery in Pittsboro, MS.
Robert entered this life on July 27, 1943 in Bruce, MS, son to the late Cullen and Willie Maye Goforth Smith. Robert served as a police officer/ chief deputy sheriff throughout his life; last of which serving as chief deputy of Houston County, TN. Robert was most known as a sign painter throughout the U.S.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by brothers, William Thomas Smith SR, Ronald Dean “Ronnie” Smith; and sister, Melba Lanora “Penny” Massey.
Survivors include sons, Robert “Butch” Smith JR, Robert “Shane” Smith (Karold); daughters, Jo Ann Smith, Donna Smith Jackson (James), Shelly Smith Garrett (Tommy); brother, Cullen “Sandy” Smith JR (Trish); sixteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
