Robert Charlton

Robert L. (Charlie) Charlton, 74, Clarksville, died Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Gateway Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in the Main Worship Center with Father Theo Ebulueme officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. A Prayer Vigil will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel. He was born April 16, 1936 in Brownton, WV and was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Anna Rusnak Charlton. Mr. Charlton was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and later retired from the U.S. Army and served in Korea and Vietnam. After his active duty he also retired as a EMT/LPN at Fort Campbell's Blanchfield Army Hospital. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, DAV Chapter 45, and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Miller Charlton, Clarksville; sons, Robert (Pat) Charlton, Concord, NC, Stephen Charlton, Knoxville; daughters Debra Gelinas, Clarksville, Christine (Dale) Westfall, Parma, OH; brothers, John Mathew (Dolly) Charlton Jr., Louis E. (Shelby) Charlton, Ronald Lee (Rita) Charlton, Donald Ray (Patricia) Charlton; sisters, Brenda Charlton, Patty (George) Slawson, Linda Charlton; grandchildren, Christopher Charlton, Aaron Charlton, Devon Thomas, Joshua Gelinas, Naomi (Terry) Weatherly and Erin Tickle. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. Memorials may be made to DAV Chapter 45.
