Robert Lester "Bobby" Bearden, age 86, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 while at his home in Cunningham.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Gum Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Kuntz and Monty Flannigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and from 12 noon until the hour of service Saturday at Gum Springs Baptist Church.
Bobby entered this life on July 29, 1926 in Cunningham, son of James Oscar and Clara Baggett Bearden. He was a skilled trade carpenter and had bravely served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bobby was a faithful member of the church family at Gum Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 63 years, Juanita Biter Bearden of Cunningham; his children, Stephen Bearden and wife Julie of Murfreesboro, Linda Edwards and husband Richard of Smithville, MO, and Donna Van Daele and husband Richard of Cunningham; brothers, Benjamin and Donald Bearden; and sisters, Betty Jo Atkins, Frances Hodges, and Wilma Breeden. He was the loving grandfather of Amanda Cooper, Angela Curtis, Robert Edwards, Ryan Bearden, Joseph Henry, Benjamin Bearden, Jessica Blair, and Jon Paul Bearden, and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Pat Biter, Dwight Bearden, Ronnie Bearden, Eddie Adams, Jon Paul Bearden, Benjamin Bearden, Chris Bearden, and Robert Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be David Elliott, Gary Black, and members of the Senior Men's Class of Gum Springs Baptist Church.
