R.J. Rye

Mr. R.J. Rye J.R., age 90 of Erin, TN, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at his residence.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Griffins Chapel Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Garrette Milliken officiating. Burial will follow in Rye Cemetery with full military honors.
The Rye family will receive friends on Wednesday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
R.J. entered this life on March 20, 1926 in Houston County, TN, son to the late Rube and Virl Adams Rye. R.J. was a lifelong resident of Houston County, TN, where he was a faithful member of Griffins Chapel Church of the Nazarene, and also attended the Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church. R.J. was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy, and was a proud WWII veteran.
In addition to his parents, R.J. was preceded in death by his children, Margrie and Ester Rye; brother, Jack Rye; and sister, Peggy Johnston.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Rye; daughters, Gilda Clark (J.R.), Sandra Baggett (L.C.), Brenda Lewis, Sheila Clark, Connie Meadows; and son, Troy Rye. R.J. also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Rye, Cass Rye, Cary Rye, Tommy Parchman, Bobby Walker, Kenneth Meadows, and Lynell Rye.
